Choosing Your Location For Your Engagement Session

Jul

Your engagement session is first big event leading up to your wedding day and your experience with CLP! There are many decisions to make when planning your session –  what to wear, sunrise or sunset?, hair and make-up styles, accessories, and choosing your location. The main thing to keep in mind is that your engagement session is supposed to be FUN! This is the time you get to practice for your wedding — no pressure, just you and your groom being yourselves!! No fuss, no stress, just fun! This is a perfect time to get to know me, familiarize yourself with poses so you are both pros on your wedding day, and be comfortable in front of my camera. There is so much going on during the wedding day and an engagement session is super helpful to know what to expect! Each of my couples are absolute PROS when their wedding day portraits roll around and we owe it all to having practiced at their engagement session!

The first step in planning your engagement session with me is to decide when you would like to schedule your session. Most couples prefer a certain season, some choosing the opposite from the season that their wedding is in. After you have decided when to schedule your session the next step is to choose a location!! YAY! Each of my #clpBrides have had some place special to set the tone for their engagement session. Whether is be atop a rooftop, in your favorite coffee or ice cream shop, or in a field on your grandparents ranch, the location is special and unique to you!

When my couples are in a place so special to them, it creates a sense of familiarity, a place of comfort and happiness! When you are in a place that makes you happy, well, you’re just plain happy! AND IT SHOWS IN YOUR IMAGES!!! There is something so wonderful about having your engagement photos documented in the place that he proposed, the dock where you held hands and took a walk on your first date, that road you’ve driven down too many times to count, but always with him, windows down, radio up, sitting side by side just enjoying each others company. THAT. That is what it is all about :)
