I have had a few people ask me why photograph my albums and I would like to share a few simple answers! An easy answer it a selfish one – I love that I get to share another blog post of my couples after I have already blogged their wedding day! It brings me so much joy to share their images again and in a format that is so close to my heart. The main reason that I photograph my heirloom albums is to showcase them to current and potential couples.
As I began to sell albums more consistently, my couples would ask examples of some of my other cover and lettering options. Instead of sending them swatches online, I wanted to be able to showcase past albums I have designed and created. Having these photos allows my couples to envision what their heirloom album will look like with the choices they are considering.

I always have the albums shipped to me first for a couple of reasons. I like to have my eyes on the album to make sure that my client’s first family heirloom is nothing less than perfect. This allows me to do a little quality control just in case. The next reason is so that I can package the order in my custom packaging. Gifting is one of my love languages and I just love packaging up orders with a personal touch and including a handwritten thank you.
Having the album shipped to me first also allows me to photograph the custom design and showcase it. Whenever I get a client order in and ready to ship out, I love sharing it on social media – Instagram in particular. I swear, more times than not, as I share the heirloom on Instagram, clients who do not have an heirloom album message me asking how they can get theirs and the process starts all over again – so very fun!!!
