As I arrived at the picturesque Santa Lucia Preserve for Will and Sam’s wedding, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement. The weather in the month of May in the Carmel Valley was simply perfect, creating the ideal backdrop for what would be a truly beautiful celebration.
From the moment I stepped onto the preserve, I knew this wedding would be one for the books. The grounds were meticulously cared for, with blooming flowers and lush greenery as far as the eye could see. It was a photographer’s dream come true, a canvas waiting to be brought to life through my lens.
Joni of Kindred Events Co. had artfully designed the wedding with hues of yellow and blue, creating a timeless and emotive atmosphere. As I walked through the venue, I couldn’t help but marvel at the intentional details scattered throughout. From the carefully placed vintage-inspired decor to the delicate linens, every element was thoughtfully chosen to enhance the overall aesthetic.
Florals by Anna with Loop Flowers took center stage, and for good reason. The arrangements featured the most beautiful yellow peonies, garden roses, and other whimsical blooms. Their beauty was a sight to behold, their fragrance filling the air and creating a sensory experience unlike any other. I made sure to capture every intricate detail, knowing that these images would forever serve as a reminder of the love and joy that filled the air that day.
As the day progressed and I began to photograph Will and Sam, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of connection with the couple. Their love was tangible, their laughter infectious. I found myself completely lost in the moment, capturing their intimate glances and stolen kisses with an artistic eye.
Of course, no wedding comes without its challenges. The lighting was constantly shifting, forcing me to adapt and find creative solutions. But it was during these moments of overcoming obstacles that I felt truly alive as a photographer, pushing the boundaries of my craft to capture the essence of the day.
One of the most memorable moments from the shoot was during the golden hour. The setting sun dipped below the rolling hills, casting a warm glow over the entire scene. Will and Sam stood on a hillside, their silhouettes embraced in an ethereal light. It was a moment that felt straight out of a fine art painting, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for being able to witness and capture such a beautiful moment.
As the day drew to a close, I couldn’t help but reflect on the power of photography. Through my lens, I had the privilege of freezing moments in time, creating a visual narrative that would forever transport Will and Sam back to their wedding day. It was a reminder that photography isn’t simply about capturing pretty pictures, but about using my craft to connect and tell stories.
This Santa Lucia Preserve wedding with Will and Sam was truly one for the books. It was an experience that reminded me why I became a photographer in the first place – to document love, to create timeless and emotive art, and to capture the intentional beauty that exists in every moment.
